Fun Facts and Fotos of Israel
83There is nothing like the beauty of a country and its people to really inspire and touch the heart of a person in miraculous ways, changing our knowledge of what we believe to be truth. No place in the world is more inspiring and awe striking than a tiny piece of land no bigger than New Jersey.
Only in Israel can one go from Jerusalem, where it is snowing, to twenty miles away in the desert, where one can go hiking sleeveless, in the middle of December and come across completely different terrains. In the north are the mountains and in the south there is the desert. In the middle of the country are all the plains where the crops are grown. The Galilee is the only source of fresh water to the whole country, farming included. Jerusalem is the crowning glory of Israel. It sits right on the border of the desert. One can look from the Mount of Olives straight into the desert.
However, more than the natural beauty in Israel is the beauty of the citizens of Israel; not only physically but spiritually and mentally. With the population roughly the size of New York City, Israeli’s may appear abrupt. However, once they develop a relationship with someone, they will gladly die in their place. They are very heartwarming people under the surface. They observe their religious beliefs with a passion and fervor; not because the Torah requires it, but because they want to do it. It is so beautiful to watch a family as they perform their Sabbath meals, and watch the faces of the family glow with happiness.
Israeli’s may not have much in material possesions, but they have a lot to offer the world in family and happiness. They offer beauty of a whole new kind; beauty more than skin deep. Israel is special and unique.

MIJ, I understand that you study in Israel, correct? Or do you live there?
Your hub is wonderful and you are so right about people of Israel. Thank you.
You described them perfectly. Another thing that you can talk about them endlessly. It's true, I haven't seen more beautiful people in any other country, I mean physical beauty. And when you get to know them you feel how friendly, warm and strong they are. Anti-Israelis are those who never visited Israel but are just biased by propaganda.
My son is a college student. This year he had a Diversity class with a very pro-Palestine teacher. He decided to go on with his paper about Israel and Palestine even in spite the teacher didn't want to approve it. There was nothing really controversial in his paper, it was not about conflict, he was just making a paper about diversity. Still, she was forcing him to change the subject. She just didn't want to hear anything nice about Israel. My son wrote to her a private e-mail saying that he will still write about the subject he has chosen and if she uses it against him, he will make this problem publicly (not sure in the world, but no time for a dictionary), as he is sure in what he is doing. He won. He made his paper and she didn't dare to spoil his grade.
Oh, I'm sorry it happened to you. That teacher was sure liberal. LOL. My son attends a private school, students are given more rights there. Anyway I was proud of him for his persistence.
And, you are so right about "selective tolerance". I was labeled "Israeli genocide apologist" by someone just for telling the truth to ppl who never visited Israel.
Beats me....we should ask Mark Knowles.....LOL
Amen.
That's a fantastic hub - loved the photos! I agree, Israel is a great place to get "climate lag"
They are pretty good photos, though! Do you live in Israel?
My other half was born in Tel Aviv, and all his family apart from me, our son, and his brother live in Israel, America or Australia.
We live in the centre of London. My OH was born in Tel Aviv (like his mother) and his parents moved to the UK when he was a child, and his brother, 7 years younger, was born here.
He has a ton of family in Israel - I swear we're related to half the country. His great-aunt, for example, only had 3 children, and only 1 of those had children, but she made up for it by having 9 (!) and they all have huge families now, too.
We go at least once a year - our son will be 4 in late June, and we are going at the end of June for a week, including a family wedding. The visit will be Isaac's fifth, I think. OH had been three or four times on his own since Isaac was born, as well.
Both Isaac and his Abba are bi-lingual.
I forgot to say - Shabbat Shalom!
It's not too personal, but I'm not quite sure what you mean - raise in what way? (We only had 1, our 3 year old son)
Ah, sorry! I was being thick. We've done our best to introduce him to both, so he had a brit and a christening, and celebrates Passover and Christmas (among others, of course!)
My father-in-law said all Jewish festivals can be summed up as, "they tried to kill us all, some of us survived, let's eat"
